5th BW Missions February 1943
February 23 - A/Ds: Gabes & Kairouan, Tunisia. Troop Concentrations: Kasserine Pass, Tunisia
42 B-17s attacked Kasserine Pass dropping nearly 3000 frags on Pass and road between Kasserine and the Pass. The road was ploughed up by our bombs and several fires started NW of the Pass. Operation made extremely necessary by military developments.
February 25 - Docks & Shipping: Biserte, Tun.
32 B-17s blasted Bizerte docks and shipping with 500 lb bombs. Hits were scored on both sides of the channel and at the harbor's entrance. Large fires and red flashes observed in target area. 24 P-28s of the 1st F. Gp. escorted and destroyed 2 ME-109s from a gang of 14 Nazi fighters.
February 28 - Docks & Shipping: Cagliari, Sardinia
46 B-17s attacked Cagliari docks and shipping. 2 large M/Ys were blown up. Hits were scored on RR yds, warehouses and in the town. Huge fires in warehouse area and on the docks.
