Welcome to the 98th Bomb Group/Wing Veterans Association.

We welcome all members (past and current) of the 98th bomb group/wing and successor units. Our aim is to provide information on the history of the 98th, and to help family members and friends of those involved with the 98th. Please feel free to explore the website. Constituted on 28 January 1942, and activated on 3 February 1942.  The 98th trained with B-24s and moved from Lakeland, Florida, to the Mediterranean theater, July-August 1942 where they would be assigned until V-E Day in May 1945.  They were first assigned to the Ninth Air Force in November 1942, secondly to the Twelfth Air Force in September 1943, and finally to the Fifteenth Air Force in November 1943.  The 98th bombed strategic targets including shipping, harbors, oil refineries and airfields throughout North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Crete, Greece, Yugoslavia, Rumania, Austria and Germany.


The 98th Bombardment Group (H) was one of four bomb groups of the 47th Bomb Wing of the Fifteenth Air Force.
